Chad Houser, Executive Director of Cafe Momentum, reveals how a few young men from Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center transformed his life and continue to motivate him to live out his purpose of cooking and educating others on societal reform during his keynote at the 2019 reunion.

Excerpt

It was in the first year of ownership that I was volunteered by a friend to go out to a Dallas County Juvenile Detention facility and teach eight young men how to make ice cream for an ice cream competition at the Dallas Farmers Market. The moment that I met these eight young men, I was simultaneously excited and ashamed. I was ashamed because the moment I met them I realized that I had stereotyped them before I’d ever met them.
